Alicia Gardener-Trejo is a Birmingham-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, improviser & educator. Her project Home/Lands: a musical exploration of home and what it means to belong, was commissioned by B:Music in 2022. Other projects include large ensemble Bobtail (debut EP Frolic, 2016) & collaborative improv trio Bobhowler (debut EP Figures, 2020).


Alicia is a member of Surge Orchestra, Gospel Revisited Project, Birmingham Improvisors Orchestra & Birmingham Jazz Orchestra. She has collaborated with artists including Paul Dunmall, Ingrid Laubrock, Percy Pursglove, Natalie Sandtorv, Jeff Williams, Faye MacCalman & Jason Singh.


As a composer she has been commissioned to write for Surge Orchestra & Greater Manchester Jazz Orchestra, & has featured on recordings played on BBC Radio 3, JazzFM, BBC Scotland & BBC6Music.
